Free Admission to The Fair on Sunday, September 6 ‘Til 2PM

#BCStorm rocked the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley on August 28th. It not only wreaked havoc on the Fairgrounds, but also brought the coldest days to Vancouver since spring. The extremely wet and cold weather effectively ended summer in Vancouver, and Fair attendance has been suffering ever since.

Although we started strong on the first five days of The Fair, the turn in the weather has made our guests shy away from Fair festivities. Now that the weather is looking up (mostly sunny this Labour Day weekend!), we’re offering free admission to everyone today, September 6 ’til 2pm.

Come out and support The Fair and all the concessionaires, local businesses and youth jobs that rely on it. Celebrate The Fair’s final weekend with us; let’s end this summer with a bang.

“This is about calling on British Columbia to come out during this incredibly challenging time in our history and support our non-profit BC institution. Beyond that, it’s about supporting youth employment and countless small businesses that rely on the PNE Fair,” says PNE President Mike McDaniel.

Jim Parsons, one of the Fair’s founding family concessionaires (Jimmy’s Lunch was opened by his great-grandfather Jim Parsons in 1929), reiterated that sentiment, “The decisions made by the PNE over the past three years across all departments have been unbelievably positive, but the effects of the storm over the past week has been the most dramatic I can remember.”

Your coming out to The Fair will not only guarantee you a fantastic time (hello, sun!), it will also support the thousands of fellow Vancouverites who depend on the success of The Fair. So, what are you waiting for? Pay us a visit today, September 6; free admission from 11am to 2pm. The Fair will be open as scheduled (11:00am – late) on Labour Day Monday.

  1. Just wanted to say I have been 3 times this year and plan to go again tomorrow – have been taking in the free concerts and went to see the fabulous Peter Pan show last night. I was thrilled to see so many little children being exposed to a first class live theatrical presentation that they may not have the chance to see other than the PNE. After the show my friend and I went for a coffee at a booth and a little girl about 6 yrs old looked up at us and with a complete sparkle in her eyes, told us in a very excited voice that she had been to see Peter Pan!!! Even her body language said she was thrilled! I also have been buying from the Marketplace and wanted to have a look online at the products of one of the vendors and was very happy when I found the list of exhibitors and was able to find them online. Will go back tomorrow to now buy their product. I am born and brought up in Vancouver and the PNE is a tradition in my family – tomorrow I will go with my family and we will all go to see Loverboy together – thanks for making it another great year for us all. Warmly, Joanie
