5 tips for taking transit to the PNE Fair

The PNE Fair is conveniently located near myriad bus routes, including the 95 B-Line, 14, 16, 210 and 211, and TransLink’s boosting service to get you there. Look out for the PNE specials departing from Phibbs Exchange, 29th Avenue Station, Renfrew Station and the Pacific Coliseum.

Ready to transit to the PNE Fair? Here are some tips!

Save with a Compass Card

Load money onto a Compass Card and use it to pay your transit fare, and you’ll receive a discount over most cash fares. And if you visit the PNE Fair on Fridays (Aug 23,30), you’ll receive 2-for-1 adult gate admission by showing your Compass Card (or any of the other Compass fare products).

Compass Cards are available for a $6 deposit from Compass Vending Machines at SkyTrain stations and select London Drugs (adult only), online at, and at select retailers.

Use your contactless credit card to pay your transit fare

Not quite ready to commit to a Compass Card?

On those same readers used for Compass Cards, you can tap your contactless Visa and Mastercard credit cards, as well as Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay to pay for an adult, cash fare. Visit for details.

Both a Compass Card and a contactless credit card will allow you to transfer from bus to SkyTrain, while if you pay using cash onboard the bus, it will only allow transfers between buses.

One zone fare after 6:30 p.m. and on weekends

A Fair Gate Pass is just $6.00 after 9 p.m. and a Fair Ride Pass is just $30.75 after 5 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday. Make it a trifecta of savings with transit!

SkyTrain and SeaBus are a one-zone fare for journeys that start after 6:30 p.m. on weekdays, and all day on Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Bus is a one-zone fare all day, every day.

Plan your trip using TransLink’s Trip Planner

Tell TransLink’s Trip Planner where you’re starting from and it’ll find the best route to get you to the PNE Fair. It will tell you how long your trip will take, if there are any transfers involved, whether there’s any walking required to get from one stop to another, and your transit fare.

Looking for something more personal? TransLink’s Customer Information team is available by phone at 604.953.3333, by live chat and @TransLink on Twitter.

Be prepared and know before you go

The PNE Fair is one of the most popular events in Metro Vancouver, so expect it to be busy — both while waiting in line for mini donuts and on transit getting there.

Summer is also road construction season. TransLink’s buses are only as reliable as the roads they travel on.

Check and subscribe to Transit Alerts for up-to-date information on service and detours. Text your bus stop number and route number to 33333 for next bus arrival times.

When waiting for the bus, stand by the bus stop pole to let the bus operator know you’d like to board. If you’re planning to get off at the next stop, pull the chord that runs along the window or push the “Stop” button to let the bus operator know.
