At the PNE we have a dedicated Food and Beverage team that not only manage year-round banquets and private events, the copious concession stands throughout the Pacific Coliseum, PNE Forum and Playland and deliver on the famous artist riders for all of our on-site concerts, but they also dream up new PNE managed, designed and produced food trucks, or technically food containers, as ours are made out of recycled shipping containers. Most of our food ‘containers’ are brought out for you to enjoy during The Fair, and get stored during the winter, being seen at the occasional Vancouver Giants‘ game, at Playland (opening May 16) and Fright Nights.
Our current creations include FunDunkers Mini Donuts, Shrimp Boat, Crazy Dogs,Colossal Cones, Yumza Pizzeria, Cheese Please, Fresh Cut Fries and Unroutine Poutine. This year we’re looking to add to the mix and we have a few trending food craves in mind. So lucky us, we’ll be spending our winter performing some mouth watering ‘market research’ to help us create delicious and unique offerings for all of you enjoy at The Fair this August! Any requests?!?

FRIGHT NIGHTS 2014
We’re not willing to risk losing our title of Western Canada’s Scariest Haunt. So that in mind, we’ll have some scream-worthy news to share on the fright front later this year.
We’ll be sharing more 2014 plans with you as the year rolls along, so come back often for more updates!
Are you looking for the most frightening Halloween experience this October? Well then Fright Nights at Playland is for you. Not only because it’s Western Canada’s scariest haunt, but also because Playland has been proven to be haunted… and we’re not referring to the actors that stalk you during the event with chainsaws and axes, we’re talking the real deal.
On September 27, 2013, The Vancouver Paranormal Society undertook an overnight investigation in Playland. Using advanced camera and recording devices the group experienced a number of circumstances which could not be explained other than saying that there were supernatural forces present. These include EVP’s (electronic voice phenomenon) and video footage. The most impressive evidence of the evening was video footage captured on the midway which showed a stationery camera rotating 45 degrees without any ‘living’ thing touching it. There was also a still camera shot that produced a blurred image running past the screen. Keep in mind Playland was closed during the investigation and the only ‘living humans’ on the grounds were the six members of the Paranormal Society team.
With the supernatural and the team of frightening creatures, six haunted houses and 12 rides all onsite to thrill, stalk and haunt you this Halloween season, Fright Nights is guaranteed to scare the living daylights out of you.
